Gull In Wind by Keith R Wahl, Made From RI Gallery

“If you don't like the weather in New England now, just wait a few minutes.” ~ Mark Twain

The gull wings its way into uncertain January winds in an almost confused state. "This is not the 'normal' direction of wind and wave at East Matunuck," the gull muses, "at least not for this time of year".

As the ruffled feathered fowl continues on their course, the consternation mounts. "In January, the ferry from the Block usually headwinds and seas". "The ferry would angle toward Charlestown and 'tack' back to Galilee!"

Then our feathered friend reconsiders their concerns. It is sunny if a windy day. "Our friend Mark may be right". "If I wait a few minutes, this weather may change".

Whether the weather changes or not, our gull wings on into the mists beaten by the wind-driven surf. Tomorrow, the January sun will turn to snow.
