The sun streams across the East Passage of Narragansett Bay in the early morning. I am standing near the M/V Coastal Queen in Jamestown, Rhode Island. The vessel is in a position that leaves me feeling as though I need to get to work as I remember my old excursion boat days.



This is a vessel that has been around for a long time. I remember this vessel as the "Viking Queen", a bigger sister vessel to the "Viking Princess" in Newport. The vessel had fallen into disrepair. It was fortunate that refurbishment occurred at Wickford Shipyard (another of my old haunts).



Today, it is early Spring. The busy season is soon to erupt. But for now, we are able to observe a sunrise fit for a Queen.
