“The hard soil and four months of snow make the inhabitants of the northern temperate zone wiser and abler than his fellow who enjoys the fixed smile of the tropics.” ~ Ralph Waldo Emerson
Indian Run Reservoir and its trails are in the heart of the "urban" part of the "suburban" village of Wakefield, Rhode Island. At one time in the not so distant past, it was part of a "rural route". An oasis of trails surrounding a reservoir fed by a myriad of rivers and streams. Snowed in and frozen in the winter.
It's cold, but I walk anyway. The air is bracing and clean. The sights are as sensational as a summer day.
