One piece of advice I have given to junior shipboard officers over the years is to never miss a sunrise or a sunset. It's a time to appreciate where you are. It's a moment to gather your thoughts. It is generally a quiet time with few others around.



I convey the same advice to people attending boatyards and those who have boats in marinas. Don't forget the sunrises and sunsets before and after the maritime adventure. Those are the best times to bookmark your days.
