Newport Bridge Summer FogCrossing the Pell Newport Bridge in early morning summer fog. Right lane traveling eastward in the middle of the East Passage of Narragansett Bay.

Crossing the Newport Bridge in fog is an experience of its own. Rising more than 200 feet over the East Passage of Narragansett Bay, one is driving into a gray cloud of mist. On occasion, the mist will form into a drizzled rain.

It is disconcerting at moments where one cannot see the water or islands below. Even more, the main towers above become obscured.

This is an experience in the wonder of weather on Narragansett Bay. There is also a healthy respect for the changing conditions on the bay and its bridges too.
