Reflected And Natural

Reflected And NaturalA natural shingled shack at the end of a pier with reflections in Newport Harbor's water.

Newport, Rhode Island is a place sometimes best observed in the off-season. In the summer, the place bustles with a mix of people, modern design vessels, and classics that seen only here. It is a melange of crossing cultures and times.

In the off-season, the late fall through the early spring, the removal of the modern veneer occurs. Then we see Newport Harbor as it was in the past. It is a way to step back into time.

The masts of a tall ship reflected above and below. A structure suspended near a pier would make a present-day engineer gasp. Yet, it all belongs. It is right. The classic New England architecture with natural shingles is a perfect fit. Where else could one find such a structure and form following function? Newport Harbor, only in Newport Harbor.
