It is thought that scorpions have inhabited the earth for over 300 million years and there are many different types of scorpions. World wide there are around 2000 species of scorpions and in the United States there are 30 different types of scorpions.Scorpions come in many colors depending on the type of species. The colors can include red, yellow green or black. They are anthropoids and are in the arachnid family. They are related to the spider species. They resemble a large crawfish and have legs that protrude form the abdomen area. Perhaps their most daunting feature is their long tails. Scorpions use the tails when they are fighting. Not only can they pummel an opponent using their tails but they also pinchers on them that they use to pinch and poison their enemies with. The affects of a scorpion sting can vary.
