Zakynthos, also known as Zante, is the third biggest island in the Ionian Sea. Its charm lies in the breathtaking white sand beaches and clear, turquoise waters. The striking landscapes and historic sites add extra allure. The island was once considered the “Flower of the Levant” by the Venetians who ruled here from 1484 to 1797. Later, it came under French, Russian, Ottoman, and British rule. Each culture has left its mark, but at its heart, Zakynthos remains deeply Greek.
