Morning Ebb At Silver Spring CoveViewing Silver Spring Cove in the early morning on with an ebbing tide

The tide is outbound, ebbing that is, in the early morning. The Saugatucket, a tidal river, is flowing out into Silver Spring Cove. This in turn will drain out to Point Judith Pond and the Harbor of Refuge further out.

For those taking journeys this morning, it means that they will have to play the throttle or the wind. This is because the current is superior at this moment and favored in boat handling.

Look for the ripples in the water. That is where the current runs, wide and strong. And the flat area is where one can seek the lee and duck away from the current's strength.

And that, my friends, is how we read the water.
